Health Promotion

Bringing Awareness and Educating our Communitie in the Inland Empire on the 

Behavioral Health which focuses on providing community education, resources,  and awareness on promoting emotional well-being,  preventing mental illness, and substance use disorders.

These issue areas are also included:

  • Youth substance abuse prevention.

  • Maternal mental health / pregnancy-related depression.

  • Mental health promotion.

  • Suicide and violence prevention.








Healthy Living Active Eating

Joshua and Hannah Foundation  is committed to improving the health of everyone in the Inland Empire, including those that suffer disproportionately from obesity, diabetes and other chronic diseases associated with the lack of healthy eating and active living opportunities.

We provide resources and educate our communities in the Inland Empire on the significant positive impact of

  • Reducing sugary drink consumption.
  • Increasing fruit and vegetable consumption.
  • Increasing physical activity.
  • Identifying the most promising childhood obesity prevention strategies.
  • Increasing clinical counseling in pediatric care settings.









Injury Prevention

Educating our communities and providing them resources on injury prevention which include:

  • Raise Awarenes on Safe Routes to School

  • Raising Awareness on Violence and Suicide Prevention

  • Raising Awareness of Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID)

  • Providing Car Seat

  • Fit Education

  • Providing Resources to Prevent Older Falls

  • Participating in Regional and Statewide Support Groups
















Tobacco Prevention and Education

We educate and provide our communities with resources that support smoke-free lifestyles, environments and policies to protect people's health. We want to be here when you need us.

Tobacco use remains the leading cause of preventable premature death and illness in the United States, including in the Inland Empire. 

More than 430,000 Americans die every year from tobacco-related diseases. Tobacco use killed one hundred million people in the 20th century, and if current trends continue, it will kill one billion people in the 21st century.













Health Effects of Tobacco Use

Tobacco use is a major contributor to four of the top 10 leading causes of death in Californai due to:

  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Cancer
  • Chronic lung disease
  • Influenza/pneumonia

Smoking and tobacco use can damage nearly every organ of the human body, and cause many types of:

  • Cancers
  • Heart disease
  • Stroke
  • Lung disease

People who don't use tobacco can also develop tobacco-related disease by being exposed to the dangers of secondhand smoke.

Resources and Support

Joshua and Hannah Mauti Foundation provides smokers in the Inland Empire with  information, emotional support,  resources and technical assistance services to encourage tobacco-free living through: 

  • Tobacco Cessation Resources and Cessation Clinics
  • Tobacco-free/Smoke-free Policies
  • Young adults 18-24 years old; Straight-to-work Population
  • Youth 14-18 years old, with a high susceptibility of becoming tobacco users will continue to be a priority population
















Guiding  framework for our youth health program

Working with local governments and our communities to promote  the health of our youth. Areas we will be trying in the near future to work with parents, leaders, and our communities to promote youth health include:

  • Youth Violence Prevention

  • Youth and Tobacco

  • Youth and Marijuana

  • Youth Substance Abuse Prevention
